Thoughts about “Blue Night”

    Good
day everyone.

For this second illustration in the series,
the resin charm that I based this of is actually one of my first orb type charms
that I made. I didn’t have a lot of materials so I kind of mash everything
together. It turned out good though. The hoop didn’t turn out as great but I think
with enough practice, I can make them more pretty in future charms.

The main color of this illustration is blue,
like how it was pink in the last drawing. Blue ties more to nights and there is
a moon charm with a small moon glitter in it, so I went with an idea of a place
where there’re a big moon and small moon in the middle of a blue ocean, with
stars scattered around. The little girl is paying the couple a visit in her
journey through the world, flocks of swifts flying above her. The flying swifts
were the fun part, I’d never drew flocks of birds up until then so when looking
up for references, I found a lot of cool pictures of them flying in many elegant
poses and angles. Looking at the made me want to draw another illustration involving
them. Maybe in the future I can do that.

I am particularly happy of the water effect
in this one, it’s simple and goes well with the simple layout. Though I would
go back and define the gear at the front more. And this time, I’d made sure to
use a proper watercolor paper, so no more bleeding! Overall, a way more
enjoyable time painting this and I this this is my most favorite of the three
in this small series.

For what the story is about, I leave that up
to everyone’s imagination.
